Isabelle Danel has been a journalist since 1982.
Specialised in the cinema, she worked at Télérama, L’Événement, DS, Rolling Stone, Première and is currently writing in Version Femina, Les Fiches du Cinéma and Bande à part.
She is the author of the children’s novel Ma belle-mère est une sorcière, contributed to editions of L’Année du Cinéma (Calmann-Lévy) and written the books: En haut des marches le cinéma (Les Carnets de l’Info), Conversation avec Robert Guédiguian (Scrinéo), Marilyn Monroe de A à Z (Tana), Bluwal pionnier de la télévision (Scrinéo).
Since June 2013, she has been president of the French Association of Film Critics and has been from 2016 to 2018 vice-president of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) which she chairs since April.
