Taking place from November 13 to 16 in Amsterdam during IDFA, IDFAcademy gives emerging international filmmakers the opportunity to meet a broad spectrum of highly esteemed documentary professionals willing to share their knowledge of the industry.
Program
During this intensive training program, participants gain up-to-date market knowledge of the documentary industry and learn first-hand about the current trends in documentary filmmaking. Trends and models in various parts of the world are dealt with to ensure that participants develop a broad view of the sector. The program consists of masterclasses of well-known directors and smaller sessions on subjects like outreach and distribution. See the program.
Participants
LaScam invites* 5 authors, making their first or second feature film, who have proven their talent on a national scale and would like to expand their career internationally. Applications from experienced authors are not accepted.
This invitation is exclusively dedicated to authors recipient of, either Brouillon d’un rêve grant, Étoiles de la Scam, Scam Prize or Albert Londres Prize.
Please note carefully: the program is not project-driven, nevertheless participants should have a project during their attendance. This ensures that participants are constantly applying the general knowledge and advice to their own documentary during the four days program.
Having a producer is not needed. Only one author per project can apply.
Attention will be focused on your learning objectives. Describe which specific elements of the IDFAcademy program you anticipate will contribute to your career, what topics you would like to learn about, and what kinds of professionals you would like to learn from during the program.
LaScam Bonus
To ensure that these opportunities take place in the best conditions, LaScam offers, several weeks before IDFA, a workshop with Claire Dixsaut « The art of the pitch in English ». It consists of two modules:
- a training course on the methodology of pitch
- a pitch practice session
Important: If you are selected, in October, you will be asked to submit a complete file of your project in English as soon as possible. Be prepared.
